On-page optimization is the practice of optimizing or modifying individual web pages in order to rank higher and earn more relevant traffic in search engines. It refers to both the content and HTML source code of a page that can be optimized. It is also known as on-site optimization.
  • A web page will shown as basic snippet in Google search result.                                                           
  • Snippet: The way of providing search result of a web page by Google. It contains seo title,web page URL,meta description.

Optimization of Head Section of Web page


Seo Title:

  •  Title is written within the tag <title>  <\title>.
  •  The title must include focusing key word and should written as a description.
  • Grammatical errors, spelling mistakes etc must be avoided
  • The character size must within the range 55 - 60. Because Google can show only a pixel width of  512 pixel as snippet for each web page.
  • Also seo title should not be completely in capital letters or small letters. Because, otherwise it may exceed the pixel width or not catching.
  •  The title must contain three or more words.
  • Title must be unique, meaningful and impressive.
  • And no other pages will have the title name. Because it may leads to keyword cannibalism (two or   more pages with same title name will compete with each other). 
  • Suppose, if we forget to add seo title then Google will automatically add  content from h1 tag. 


Meta Description:


  • It is the short about the content of our web page.
  • Its size must limited within 155 – 160 range and pixel width of 1024 pixels.
  • Suppose, if we forget to add Meta description or it is not relevant.The Google will automatically include the relevant content from our website as Meta description.
  • Description must free of grammatical error, spelling mistakes ect. And not written completely in  capital letters.
  • Meta description contains Robots meta tag. It is mainly used to avoid the   automatic insertion of  content from open directories about our website. 
  • Eg: <meta name=”Robots” content=”noodp”>
  • noodp : It means do not use description from open directory.
  • open directory: we can submit our business in open directory. But approval is done by volunteers.
  • If we are in 4th or 5th rank of the Google search result and having much impression. But not having  click through rate(CTR). So for increasing CTR we can made changes to the meta description.
  • Canonical tag can be used to avoid content duplication. Because, if same content is used in two   pages of the same website. In such condition we can use canonical tag.

Optimization of Body Section


h1 tag:


  •  Most important part of a body section is the content within h1 tag. Because h1 text area gets more attention from users compared to the rest. 
  • We must include our focusing keyword there.
  • It must free from all grammatical errors, spelling errors etc.
  • It is not be so lengthy and includes only upto 10 words.
  • For a particular web page, there is only one h1 tag. Because, otherwise it may cause confusion.
  • Sand box: It is the temporary database maintained by Google for including those web pages which are not properly crawlable. Also, these may or may not have any visibility in Google search result. Releasing web page from sand box is not so easy.
  • h1 always contains the primary keyword of our site.


h2 tag:


  • It is more or less important as h1 tag.
  • Only one h2 tag is preferred in a web page. But if we use lengthy description within the h2 tag.          Then more than one h2 tag is allowed in a web page.
  • Also, content of h2 must written in relates to the h1 content.

h3 and h4 tags:


  • Contents within h3 and h4 tags are written in relates to h2 & h1 tags.
  • h3 can include two or more times in web page.

Content Optimization


  • we should include relevant content about our website.
  • Anchor text (text portion with hyperlink) is most visible portion in content area.
  • While crawling by Google, anchor text will be projected than others. Also, it will act as a boost for     crawling process. Thereby helps the easy crawling of web page.
  • Never provide hyperlinks to our focusing key word. Because it will thereby act as a                    recommendation to other website and results the ranking of the same.
  • Try to use short sentence (simple sentence) for reading ease and focusing key word in the first  sentence.

Key word Optimization:


  •  Focusing must include in the seo title, meta description, h1 and h2 tags.
  • Keyword Density: The percentage of occurrence of focusing keyword in the content of      publishing website.
  • But there is no certain percentage limitation for using key word in our page.
  • Providing key word in bold letters is not mandatory. But providing important content in bold letters     may help to understand the theme of web page.
  • Arranging key words in front of a coma or after full stop will provide web page ranking. 

     Image Optimization 

  

  •  Images are the most attractive part of a web page.
  •  It must be relevant and related to the content of our website.
  • Info graphics is one of the method used by web masters to acquire the attraction of mass audience.
  • Info graphics: The process of including information to an image. So that we can have links from other websites easily.
  • Always use images relevant to our content.
  • Usually Google identifies an image using three fundamental elements. They are …
  • Presence of attribute ‘alt’ within image tag. Alt is the attribute used to identify the image correctly. 
  • Save image using a file name, which is related to the image itself. Never use space within the file name while saving image. 
  • Contents within the image tag.

      Authorship Optimization 

  

  •       Authorship shows the editorial power of a web master.
  •       Editorial power increases with increasing out reach. 
  •       It will help us to rank high.
